Lisa Unger (born April 26, 1970 in New Haven, Connecticut) is an American author of contemporary fiction.

Biography

Unger was born in New Haven, Connecticut but grew up in the Netherlands, England, New Jersey and New York City, where she graduated from the New School for Social Research.

Her novels have appeared on the New York Times Best Seller list, have sold over 1 million copies in the U.S. and have been translated into 26 different languages.

She now divides her time, along with her husband and daughter, between Florida and New York City.[1]

Works

Beautiful Lies was selected as an International Book of the Month, an honor bestowed upon only a few authors worldwide each year, with past recipients including Harlan Coben and Karin Slaughter.[2] It was also chosen in 21st place in the top 50 "Best Books of 2006" by the editors of amazon.com,[3] a BookSense pick in May 2006 [4] and a finalist in the International Thriller Writers Organization "Best Novel" Award in 2007.[5]

Sliver of Truth, the sequel, was also a BookSense pick in January 2007[6]

Black Out, her first stand-alone novel, was selected as a Today show "Top 10" Summer Read, a BookSense Notable, won the Silver Medal for popular fiction in the 2008 Florida Book Awards and was a finalist in the 2009 Prix Polar International award.[7]

Die for You, another stand-alone novel, was chosen as a Great Summer Read in Parade Magazine, featured on Good Morning America, a Book Pick in Good Housekeeping magazine and selected as a top summer pick on the Today show.[7]

Fragile, was chosen as a Top Book Pick for Great Summer Reads on ABC's Good Morning America, and selected as a Hot Book by Harper's Bazaar. Lisa Unger named an "Emerging Author" by Target. It has recently been optioned for feature film by TNT_(TV_channel) for it's Mystery Movie Night series.[7]

Darkness, My Old Friend, was chosen as a Family Circle Magazine Pick and Washington Life Magazine Lit Pick.[7]

Lisa also wrote a series of works under her maiden name, Lisa Miscione. Those novels are being re-released as Lisa Unger Writing as Lisa Miscione. [8]
